چکیده

In this paper we discuss the parallel asynchronous implementation of the classical primaldual method for solving the linear minimum cost network flow problem. Multiple augmentations and price rises are simultaneously attempted starting from several nodes with possibly outdated price and flow information. The results are then merged asynchronously subject to rather weak compatibility conditions. We show that this algorithm is valid, terminating finitely to an optimal solution. We also present computational results using an Encore Multimax that illustrate the speedup that can be obtained by parallel implementation. 1 This work was supported in part by the BM/C3 Technology branch of the United States Army Strategic Defense Command. 2 Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, M. Dual Based Procedures for Un-Capacitated Minimum Cost Flow Problem

In this article, we devise two dual based methods for obtaining very good solution to a single stage un-capacitated minimum cost flow problem. These methods are an improvement to the methods already developed by Sharma and Saxena [1]. We further develop a method to extract a very good primal solution from a given dual solution. We later demonstrate the efficacies and the significance of these m...

New Algorithms for the Dual of the Convex Cost Network Flow Problem with Application to Computer Vision

Motivated by various applications to computer vision, we consider an integer convex optimization problem which is the dual of the convex cost network flow problem. In this paper, we first propose a new primal algorithm for computing an optimal solution of the problem. Our primal algorithm iteratively updates primal variables by solving associated minimum cut problems. The main contribution in t...

A unified framework for primal-dual methods in minimum cost network flow problems

We introduce a broad class of algorithms for finding a minimum cost flow in a capacitated network. The algorithms are of the primal-dual type. They maintain primat feasibility with respect to capacity constraints, while trying to satisfy the conservation of flow equation at each node by means of a wide variety of procedures based on flow augmentation, price adjustment, and ascent of a dual func...

Scheduling of Multiple Autonomous Guided Vehicles for an Assembly Line Using Minimum Cost Network Flow

This paper proposed a parallel automated assembly line system to produce multiple products having multiple autonomous guided vehicles (AGVs). Several assembly lines are configured to produce multiple products in which the technologies of machines are shared among the assembly lines when required. The transportation between the stations in an assembly line (intra assembly line) and among station...

Dualistic computational algebraic analyses of primal and dual minimum cost flow problems on acyclic tournament graphs

To integer programming problems, computational algebraic approaches using Gröbner bases or standard pairs via the discreteness of toric ideals have been studied in recent years. Although these approaches have not given improved time complexity bound compared with existing methods for solving integer programming problems, these give algebraic analysis of their structures. In this paper, we focus...

New algorithms for convex cost tension problem with application to computer vision

Motivated by various applications to computer vision, we consider the convex cost tension problem, which is the dual of the convex cost flow problem. Our primal algorithm iteratively updates primal variables by solving associated minimum cut problems. We show that the time complexity of the prim...
